Volunteering

At Street futures we are always looking for new volunteers to come on board and help serve the community. Whether that is someone who is working full time but wants to give back to the community by supporting young people, or someone who has a passion of  sports and is unemployed but needs support into employment, we can cater for all. Since we were setup in 2018 we have had 50+ volunteers supporting our projects and 30% of those have gone on to complete accredited qualifications and are now a part of our paid staff delivering activities across Birmingham as well as being signposted to other sports coaching organisations for additional work.

We have also had numerous young people complete work experience placements for school, college and university. The benefits of volunteering with us at Street Futures are endless but to mention a few you’ll be a part of a vibrant, diverse, likeminded group of individuals, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in some exciting activities such as glow in the dark sports, inflatable fun day or even adventures to Go Ape Outdoors, Drayton Manor, the cinemas and numerous beaches over the summer. Not to mention, you’ll have the opportunity to upskill yourself with accredited coaching qualifications and certificates as well as learning from experienced sports coaches first hand.

If you are interested, please complete the form on the right or for more information get in touch with us at info@streetfutures.com

Volunteering at Street Futures has helped me gain confidence and leadership when it comes to coaching. It has also allowed me to provide a safe environment for my friends to play the sports they love and it has introduced me to new people who I can enjoy sessions with and learn new things along the way from. Street Futures and in particular, Usman has opened up many doors for me in terms of taking this role as a volunteer to the next level. At the moment I am in the process of completing my level one foundation cricket coaching course and I can't wait to return to Street futures as a coach once i'm finished with the course.

I've been at Street Futures since 2018. I came to the football sessions at South Birmingham College. I spoke to Usman as I wanted to get more involved.  He told  me about the EE playmaker, which I enrolled on and went down this route as I am really passionate about football. I started to learn more from other coaches and my coach.  They helped me pick up new ideas and drills from Trividale which helped enable me to be ready to teach children different varieties of drills and the basics about football. Currently i'm at almost every Street Futures sessions, learning more about coaching and how I can make every session more fun and exciting for the kids that come to our sessions.

Street Futures has helped me understand how important it is for us to be a part of these types of organisations.  It has given me a strong base to start my career into coaching from. It has allowed me to encourage more girls to come to sessions so they can participate and have fun.

Street Futures has enhanced my ability to work in a professional environment. Whilst teaching me what it's like to take responsibility when coaching it has also ensured that I enjoy sessions.  Being at Street Futures has helped me develop problem solving skills and leadership skills.
